Introduction Boys & Girls Clubs of America is pleased to announce the 2007/2008 Club Tech National Digital Arts Festivals, sponsored by Microsoft. This years theme is "Our Changing World." What change do you want to see in your world? Your creative mission is to show --visually, musically or with words – the change in the world you see or want to see. It could be raising money at your Club to combat malaria, a recycling program in your community, a tutoring program at your school, a company working to decrease pollution – any way that you, people or organizations are working to make a positive impact, big or small, on our world .The festivals celebrate Club members’ creativity and technological ability in the following categories: Photo Illustration:
Entries will use a minimum of three photos to create a photo collage showing how today’s youth is positively changing the world. It could be an activity occurring in your community – a park clean-up project, a blood drive – or it could be a scene from around the country or around the world. Give your collage a title that captures what it is you are trying to get across to your audience.

Whether a national anthem that makes you proud to be a citizen or a pop song that makes you want to dance, music has the power to inspire. Compose a song that encourages your peers to get involved and make a difference. Members are now allowed to write original lyrics for their digital music. Lyrics must not contain profanity or objectionable material and should be appropriate listening for all Club members. When audio clips that include lyrics are uploaded to the festival Web site for regional competition, a Word document with the text of the lyrics must also be uploaded. Visit www.adcouncil.org/gallery.html for some terrific examples. Entries will be Web pages that provides a “call to action” to get people involved and behind a cause you believe in. Sites may include Flash elements, audio files, images or photographs members have created or taken. Members’ sites may not link to external Web sites. Each participant will design a 600x800 pixel, full-page, color magazine advertisement motivating youth – perhaps in your Club, community or school – to get involved and make a difference. The best ads have an attention grabbing headline, simple body text that explains why the reader should become involved, and eye-catching images and design. Members should not include their names anywhere in the artwork and keep local Club identification as minimal as possible. Artwork should focus on the graphic design of visual elements, not on text. Each festival is the culmination of one program of the Digital Arts Suite, which are five Club Tech programs in technology and the arts: Music Tech, Photo Tech, Movie Tech, Web Tech and Design Tech. The festivals provide opportunities for Club members who participate in the Digital Arts Suite programs to gain recognition at the local, and, potentially, regional and national levels. While not required, running the programs is the best way to prepare members for festival participation. |
